When a client wants to make a splash, media relations can be just the right fit.
FirstBuild is a global co-creation community that harnesses the brainpower of the maker movement to change the way major home appliances are conceived, designed and manufactured. They came to AKHIA with a request: Create some buzz around their latest new product, the Opal Nugget Ice Maker. This ice maker conveniently brings chewable ice into homes. It sounds simple, but it’s actually quite remarkable—and tasty! FirstBuild knew this and they wanted to shine a spotlight on the product.
AKHIA’s solution was to develop and execute an outreach plan to relevant media outlets and provide these outlets with all the necessary information they needed to create an engaging story. USA Today developed a Facebook video that highlighted the product in an engaging way. The video generated millions of views, as well as thousands of comments and shares. The best part? The video directly correlated with a spike in sales of the ice maker. Now that’s a cool media relations result!
